Previously available only for Alby Cloud we are now rolling it out to users that prefer running Alby Hub on their own devices. This feature relies on VSS, recently launched by Spiral, and is exclusive to the default Alby Hub version with LDK nodes, offering:
- Seamless Recovery: In case of data loss, you can recover your full spending balance effortlessly.
- No Peer Dependency: Unlike SCBs, dynamic backups let you retain your channels without relying on your channel partner to close them.
- Ongoing Protection: Say goodbye to the hassle of manually updating backup files with every channel change. Alby Hub handles it all for you.
Unlimited sub-wallets
Alby Hub sub-wallets allow Hub runners to share liquidity with family and friends allowing them to onboarding seamlessly—without needing to understand channels, liquidity, or even the basics of Bitcoin and Lightning. They can interact via the Alby Extension or Alby Go and even connect a @getalby.com lightning address.
Sub-wallets also help you better manage your activity and balances across apps. Instead of seeing all your transactions in one place, you can track earnings and expenses per app—especially useful since NWC allows apps not just to pay, but also to receive bitcoin.
Customizable lightning addresses
Very few self-custodial wallets offer lightning addresses, even though they are the easiest way to receive bitcoin payments. Every Alby Account comes with a default lightning address for free, but with Alby Pro, you can customize your lightning address as you wish.
